1. Ask at the right time
The best moment to ask is as soon as you’ve finished the job, while the customer is happy and the work is fresh in their mind. Don’t wait too long, strike while the iron’s hot.
2. Make it easy for them
Send your customer a direct link to your Google review page. If they have to search for you, they probably won’t bother. Keep it simple: one click and they’re on the review screen.
- To get your link, search for your company name in Google (not your website).
- Open your Business Profile,
- Click “Ask for reviews,” and copy the link.
- You can send it by text, WhatsApp, email or even create a QR code.

3. Put the customer first
Don’t just say “leave me a review.” Start by checking in: “Just wanted to make sure you’re still happy with the work we’ve carried out…”
This will show you care about your customer and gives you the chance to fix any problems before they start complaining. Often, fixing a problem that has occurred makes customers more likely to recommend you to others.
4. Keep it personal
Always use their name and mention the job you did. Personal touches make people more likely to respond. Remember, Google doesn’t allow you to ask specifically for a 5-star review, so keep it neutral and professional.
5. Follow up (without nagging)
Not everyone will leave a review straight away. A polite reminder after a few days, and another week later, is fine. After that, let it go; you don’t want to annoy your customers.
6. Show reviews matter
When someone leaves you a review, reply and thank them. It shows you care, and it also helps improve your visibility in Google search results.
7. Make it part of your process
Don’t treat reviews as an afterthought. Build them into your routine, for example, include your review link when you send a final invoice or a thank-you message. Over time, this steady approach will increase your reviews and generate more enquiries.
